Hi,

I am using the C++ api to work with Perforce. All is working well when working with a 'local' type depot. When working with a 'stream' type depot I get this error message: "Client ... requires an application that can fully support streams".

Api version is 2011.1 (but same error with 2012.2 api). Client is on Windows 7, 32 bit. Server is Linux 64 bit, 2012.1

Any ideas what may be causing this ?

There's a magic word we neglected to doc. Add this:

client.SetVar( "enableStreams" );

After seeing your post the devs fixed the relnotes so future generations won't wonder why they can't talk to streams.

Ah. that explains a lot. Although I had to do this:

client.SetProtocol("enableStreams", "");

to make it work. But maybe that is because I'm using the 2011.1 api.

Thanks,
Ivo

Ivos solution still seems to be valid for API 2015.1 using server P4D/LINUX26X86_64/2014.2/978861 (2014/12/19).
Although the knowledge base also suggests calling SetVar(), this didn't work for me either.
Would be great to see this magic words documented in the API manual.
