We've recently deployed a new 2016.1 server using native AD integration, everything works great but new users are forced to use p4 command-line to auto create their new users, whenever they try to use P4V the P4V log shows:

00000040 15:31:14.951 [0xfd8a8ef10] info
00000040 15:31:14.959 [0xfd896e2a0] protects -m
00000040 15:31:14.963 [0xfd896e2a0][31021966] User jsmith doesn't exist.

The P4D during this attempt the P4D log shows:

Perforce server info:
2016/05/23 15:30:58 pid 6470 jsmith@_____CLIENT_UNSET_____ 192.168.1.2 [P4V/NTX64/2015.2/1312139/v79] 'user-info'
Perforce server info:
2016/05/23 15:30:58 pid 6470 jsmith@_____CLIENT_UNSET_____ 192.168.1.2 [P4V/NTX64/2015.2/1312139/v79] 'user-protects -m'

When I first login with the p4 command-line I am able to successfully connect, I see the line below in the P4D log:

Perforce server info:
2016/05/23 15:38:16 pid 6485 jsmith@_____CLIENT_UNSET_____ 192.168.1.2 [p4/2015.2/NTX64/1311674] 'user-login'

Hi heyjon

We have the same problem, unfortunately it is not possible to autocreate LDAP users with P4V.

In P4V versions up to at least 2015.2, autocreation of users won't work as P4V first checks that the user exists before prompting for a password.
The workaround is to autocreate the user with the p4 command line client.

Does anyone have a solution of auto-creating LDAP users in Perforce without use of P4 command line?
