Hello,

Perhaps I'm not using branching correctly, but let me explain my situation.

I branched a code path to a new path, so I could create a new project based on the old code path.  The new branch was marked for Add in P4V and then submitted.  Every file shows a history of being added when the branch was made.

The problem is whenever I make a change to a file and then "reconcile differences", P4 marks the file as "Add" rather than "Checked out".  If I try to submit the changed file, it says it can't because the file already exists.  I've resorted to doing a workaround when this occurs by shelving the files, reverting, un-shelving, merging (accepting the targets changes), and finally submitting the files.

I want to know why P4V marks files that are obviously already in P4 as 'Add' rather than 'Checked out'.  This occurs even after making multiple changes to the file.  The file could have 5 different history changes and still be marked for Add when reconciling differences after changes are made.  This does not occur if the file is already checked out prior to making the changes.  If the file is checked out before changes are made, then it can be submitted without issue.  However, I don't like having 1000+ files checked out all the time...

Thanks for any help/tips,
Ben

From what I read, you modify files outside of Perforce (without checking out the file) and when you run "p4 reconcile", the file is marked for add.  I cannot reproduce this.  Please try the latest P4V 2017.3 and if the problem repeats, clarify the steps you took.

Hi, Randall -

This is known bug, which is presumably fixed in the upcoming P4V release (patch 3).
Let me know if you need the job number.

This is indeed fixed in the latest patch. We have just deployed it.
