Following instructions on how to install Perforce license here and here.
Copied license.txt into the root, then ran:

```
$ p4 license -i < license.txt
License file saved
$ p4 license -o
Only 'p4 license -i' and 'p4 license -u' may be used until a license is installed.
```

What am I missing? Instructions say one doesn't need to restart server in order for the license to take effect.
This is the first license installed (it was running without a license before), IP and port are setup properly (i.e. according to the license).

If memory serves, 'p4 license' can only be used to update a license, not install it the first time, despite what the output above says.

Maybe try saving the license to the server's root (file should be named 'license' without an extension, at least for Linux, not sure about Windows servers) then restart the p4d instance.

Yup, I believe you are correct, Matt, at least for a new license (or <cough> expired license) -- same in Windows, no extension, have to drop it in and restart..

Pretty certain they are correct. And I never use the "license -i" bit; the server automatically picks up new license files when they are updated.
