Since the last reboot of the server I'm using I have not been able to start the perforce server again.

On startup a perforce server were running however it was missing all users and files so I shut it down using the kill command. I have since then tried running the p4d command in the *perforcefolder*/root, it does not give any output and does not start the server, and the same goes if I run it as p4d -r *perforcefolder*/root from somewhere else. If I run p4d in just the perforcefolder it generates new db's and once again users and depos are missing.

Am I trying to start it from the wrong folder or using the wrong command?

Check the log file ("log" in the server root by default).  My guess is it's an invalid license or something like that.
